The migration route

Out of Africa – But how?
For years, there are two models for the migration and proliferation of human species for discussion: the one favors multiple migrations of humans out of Africa, the other says that early humans migrated only once and then developed in various places in the world step by step to Homo sapiens . Recently, signs of a rapprochement between the two models emerged, which is conducted under the name "Mostly Out of Africa": In it the African populations dominates the heritage of modern humans, but the archaic forms outside Africa should also make a small percentage of the gene pool.

Rather dawdling instead of a whirlwind tour
One must not imagine these different propagation waves as planned hike from here to there. Until 10,000 years ago humans lived by gathering and hunting, and roamed around in search of food. If the home range of a group would have shifted in one direction for only 1 km per year, the descendants of East Africans could have reached Southeast Asia after 15,000 years. Men followed the distribution of their food source with changes of climate and environment. Due to their cultural achievements, like a variety of tools, fire and clothing, the human forms got better in adapting to new environments, and thus increasingly populated areas that previously were inhospitable to them.
